Eric is McKinsey & Company’s North America managing partner

Eric is managing partner of McKinsey & Company North America, leading our firm across the United States and Canada. He is a senior partner in McKinsey’s Technology, Media, and Telecommunications Practice, which he led globally for five years. He served as the firm’s chief financial officer from 2020–24, where in addition to his usual CFO responsibilities, he oversaw the largest change in the firm’s philosophy to its arrangements and alignment of our fees to impact; instituted a “carbon tax”; oversaw the implantation of a cloud-based ERP across nearly 60 countries; and undertook an effort to further strengthen our firm’s balance sheet.

Eric has and always will remain a client-serving senior partner, with a strong record of partnering with executive teams across the technology, media and telecommunications sectors as well as the advanced industrial sector (including advanced electronics, semi-conductors, and aerospace and defense) to set bold ambitions and build and execute on the roadmaps to achieve these lofty goals.

Examples of Eric’s recent work include the following:

  • guiding the platform transformation of a leading B2B software and media company, including rebasing costs, developing platform strategy, executing the transition plan, and re-designing the organization
  • partnering with one of the world’s largest software companies to nearly triple its historical growth rate; working to revamp its marketing organization, product management capabilities, engineering development output, and new sales motions
  • leading the integration of a major systems provider's largest ever software acquisition, providing a new integrated platform for its security offering
  • driving an operational and financial performance turn around for a $25 billion aerospace OEM, including aligning the top team and revamping its culture in addition to driving a step-change performance, leading to the first achievement of its 5-year plan
  • partnering with a leading private equity firm as it incubates three new business lines in healthcare, sustainable energy generation, and artificial intelligence

As a thought leader on global topics, he is a speaker and author, sharing insights on high-profile stages including Fortune, Milken, Forbes, CNBC TV, and more. Eric is also deeply committed to McKinsey’s gender research and helped establish the firm’s partnership with Lean In, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting women’s leadership and inclusion in the workplace, to develop a holistic diagnostic and longitudinal benchmark to better understand how McKinsey can help companies create an environment for women to succeed in the workforce.

Outside of McKinsey, Eric serves on the boards of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, Impact Through Golf, Cornell University, and the Hoover Institution at Stanford University.
