Wonsik specializes in helping Asian companies build global businesses, capture new growth opportunities from disruptive technologies, and transform into agile organizations. He has primarily dedicated the past 20 years of his consulting career to the advanced-assembly and process-manufacturing industries, in which he has advised leading Asian automotive, heavy-equipment, oil and gas, and petrochemical companies.
As a senior partner and former managing partner of the Korea office, Wonsik has also played a number of roles advising the Korean government. He served on the Korean National Economic Advisory Council, leading its subcommittee responsible for aiding the president in implementing a “creative economy,” and headed a committee for creative economy under the former Korean Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning. He also served on Korea’s strategy committee for the Fourth Industrial Revolution chaired by the deputy prime minister for economic affairs and on the industrial-innovation strategy committee for the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
Before joining McKinsey, Wonsik headed an entrepreneurial venture and worked as an engineer at a multinational commercial- and consumer-product, engineering-services, and aerospace-systems company.
