Juan Antonio is a Senior Partner in McKinsey's Madrid office where he leads the Advanced Industries practice, and at the European level our credit risk practice.

Juan Antonio joined the firm in 2005, and since then has served mainly financial institutions and industrial companies in more than 15 countries and in multiple aspects, with special focus on growth strategies, operational and capital structure transformation, and improving resilience and risk management.

Some recent examples of his work include:

  • Advised several banks in defining and improving the risk appetite framework and its implementation in the different businesses at the level of risk measurement metrics, governance along the three lines of defense and operating model and management police.
  • Assisted in defining the strategic plan for an industrial conglomerate including analysis of the potential of existing businesses, entry into new markets and possible inorganic opportunities (investments and divestments).
  • Assisted in the improvement of the risk management model for several non-financial companies covering financial (credit, liquidity, currency, etc.) and non-financial (operational, project execution, reputational, cyber, etc.) risks.
  • Assisted in the strategic definition and design of the operating model for joint ventures in the field of vehicle financing, including the implementation of tools for estimating and managing the residual value of vehicles.

Supported the financial and operational restructuring of multiple distressed companies, including the design of a creditor recapitalization framework and company restructuring and resiliency plans.
